Stream Andy Stott’s “Luxury Problems” LP

by Joe Burns

After establishing himself as a creator of some unbelievably murky techno with his Modern Love releases “Passed Me By” and “We Stay Together” of 2011, the latest release from Andy Stott is one which does more than pulsate darkness.

The Manchester based producer has altogether showcased his diverse creative abilities in the shining example of the “Luxury Problems” LP. While shifting his trademark earth-shattering kick pulses and quaking bass drones to be lower than the ocean floor, Stott has crafted an album that is wholeheartedly dark but incredibly revitalising. Sampling vocals of his former piano teacher Alison Skidmore makes the tracks lighter than others from previous releases, bringing into being an entirely new angelic spectrum to compliment Stott’s sub-frequencies.
